When Midwesterners hear the word "ag," it's easy to think of Northwest. Our agronomy students gain a holistic understanding of crop and soil management and access to top-notch facilities. If you love learning about soil and plant health, then the agronomy major could be for you!
Agronomy students get hands-on experience from day one. Faculty cover topics like producing healthy crops, understanding soil as a natural resource, determining solutions to crop and soil management systems, and more.
In addition, agronomy students gain access to world-class learning facilities, including the Agricultural Learning Center, the R.T. Wright Farm and the Dean L. Hubbard Center for Innovation. We encourage you to check them out!

This emphasis focuses on plant breeding, crop scouting, weed science and crop environment.
This emphasis is a little different. Students get exposed to diverse greenhouse and nursery production, fruit and vegetable culture, landscape and turf construction.
The School of Agricultural Sciences also offers a minor in horticulture.
This emphasis hones in on soil classification, conservation and microbiology.
Did you know you also can minor in agronomy, horticulture or soil science? These 24-credit-hour programs teach students the fundamentals of producing healthy crops and utilizing crop and soil management systems.
